ABOUT STERLING SILVER
AND CARE INSTRUCTIONS
WHAT IS STERLING SILVER ?
Sterling silver is an alloy of silver containing 92.5% by weight of silver and 7.5% by weight of other metals, usually copper. The sterling silver standard has a minimum millesimal fineness of 925.
The reason silver needs to be combined with other metals is that it is very difficult to make great designs with just pure silver, which is very soft and malleable. A bit of hardness has to be introduced, by adding other metals such as copper. That’s why jewelers are capable of making the most intricate and complex designs with 925 Sterling Silver.
HELP, MY JEWELRY BLACKENS!
Silver is a metal that reacts a lot to water, air, sweat from some skins, perfumes... There's no need to panick is your piece of jewelry darkens little by little, as it's only proof that it's authentic.
The good news with sterling silver is that once it's cleaned, the original aspect is easy to find back.
To prevent tarnishing, put your jewelry after your perfume to prevent it from sticking to your silver.
Don't be afraid to wear your silver: friction slows down tarnishing so the more you wear it, the more it'll shine!
HOW TO CLEAN MY SILVER JEWELRY
First of all, avoid contact with chlorine (bleach etc). To clean up your jewelry, there are many ways.
Mix a paste of three parts baking soda (or toothpaste) to one part water. Wet the silver and apply the cleaner with a soft, lint-free cloth (not paper towels, which can scratch). Work the paste into the crevices, turning the cloth as it gets gray. Rinse and buff dry.
Follow the instructions. The product will clean your jewelry very quickly and efficiently. It also prevents the tarnish from coming back.
